The double belt freezer was invented by Clarence Birdseye when his company, general seafood corporation moved to Gloucester, MA.The freezer froze fish very quickly and preserved it so it can be eaten at any time.  The double belt freezer developed overtime because Birdseye decided to improve the freezing process by taking out patents from other machinery, making it freeze fish more faster so that small ice crystals can form and the cell membranes were not damaged. It got even better overtime because Birdseye started freezing meat, poultry, fruit, and vegetables.

This is a picture of the double belt freezer. The double belt freezer made it possible to transport food all across the country and even the world. It was invented by Clarence Birdseye around 1922-1927. He was on a fur-trapping expedition in Labrador in 1912 and 1916 when he saw natives using freezing to preserve their meats, he got the idea of trying to fast freeze fish.
