The motorcycle is a two or three wheeled motor vehicle that has developed progressively over the past 130 years. The motorcycle was designed and built by two German inventors, Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach, in Bad Cannstatt, Germany in 1885. Motorcycles are very popular for transportation in today's world. There are approximately 200 million motorcycles in use worldwide, which is close to the number of cars in use worldwide.

Hildebrand & Wolfmuller became the first series production motorcycle in 1894.  In the early times of motorcycle production, many producers of the motorcycle readjusted their designs to contain the new internal combustion engine. As the engines became more powerful and designs outgrew the bicycle origins, the number of motorcycle producers increased. The motorcycle has been, and still is developing to this day as one of the major sources for transportation.
